We could really use your help
in June & July
People leave town for cooler places – the mountains, ocean, and summer homes. Others are busy with kids being out of school, vacation, summer camp, and family fun. Unlike the holiday season, year-end, or April tax season, giving just isn’t on most people’s radar.
- At-risk children still need to be fed (we actually feed more kids in the summer through camps and daycares).
- Men and women striving for a better future are coming to Career Plus to learn a viable trade and the basic life skills to help them succeed.
- Families are coming to the Community Warehouse in larger numbers than ever for food and products they can receive at no cost to take some of the stress off of their grocery bills.
- Children are enjoying time with their moms and dads at the Family Center and families are being reunited.
- Children and teens still come into our care due to neglect and even abuse.
Will you help us continue to serve children, women and men during the hot months of
June & July through your monthly donation or $100 one-time gift?
* If I made a qualifying donation to GAP Ministries during the Summer Heat Wave, why do I have to purchase a raffle ticket in order to win prizes?
If you were given a raffle ticket for donating to GAP Ministries during the Summer Heat Wave, your donation would no longer be tax deductible. For this reason, after you make a qualifying donation in June or July, we allow you to purchase $1 raffle tickets to win the prizes. Only the $1 raffle tickets are not considered a tax deduction.
“A tax-deductible charitable contribution is a voluntary payment where you don’t receive something of equal value in return. When you buy a raffle ticket, you’re purchasing a chance to win a prize. The IRS views that chance as the thing you received in exchange for your money, making the transaction a wager rather than a gift. The full amount goes into the “not deductible” column on your return, even if the charity is a qualified 501(c)(3) organization and every dollar of the proceeds goes to a good cause.”
