A Community Comes Together to Feed Seniors

Meeting a Critical Need

Last year, Pima County recreation centers lost funding for senior meals. Many older adults faced uncertainty about where they would find nutritious meals and community connection.

When GAP Kitchen Director Chef John Hohn learned about the cuts, he asked the GAP team to pray for a solution.

Soon after, the Eleanor Towne Community Center contacted GAP Ministries. Together, they explored ways to continue serving local seniors. The answer was clear. The program needed financial support to cover meal costs.

The community responded generously.

Donors and community partners contributed nearly $90,000. Their support funded the program for about two years. In November 2025, the GAP Kitchen began serving nutritious meals to seniors three days each week.

Community Support Makes a Difference

The program received another boost after a local news story highlighted its impact.

A generous donor contributed $45,000 to the program. That gift fully funds senior meals for another year. Seniors can continue receiving the meals they depend on.

This story shows what happens when people respond to a community need. Together, we can care for vulnerable neighbors and ensure they receive support.
